Mofongo at 188 Bakery Cuchifritos
In the world of subtly different Hispanic cuisines, an authentic mofongo is a dish not usually worth pursuing stateside. It is a plantain dish which can be combined with pretty much any other ingredients, and the result is usually edible - like generic cheese pizza - but not usually worth a special trip. The mofongo at 188 Bakery Cuchifrito's is an exception. They have taken the time to properly prepare the plantains with a mortar and pestle and there are plenty of toppings inlcuding cheese and chicharrones - fried pork rinds. The price is right for a late night dinner. Check it out.
