A Beach Picnic at Tybee Island

One of the best things about Savannah is how close to the beach you really are.  30 minutes in the car and you're there.  And, not just any beach.  The wide white-sanded Atlantic beaches on Tybee give you plenty of opportunity to sun-bathe, stroll, kite-surf, swim, or eat fish and chips at one of the many beach-side pubs.

The Tybee beach picnic is perfect.  Start with your pic-a-nic basket.  Macy's has good ones.  This one below is pretty nice, and is going for about $80 right now.

The Kabrio Basket from Macy's.

If you are really into the picnic thing, splurge on the basket.  It's worth it.  Check this one out from Amazon.  It's called the Windsor.  Makes a great Christmas Present.  ($234)

If you want to go all out, get the Windsor picnic basket from Amazon.  It's the only basket you'll ever need.
With basket in hand, head on over to Whole Foods on Victory Drive and pick up some cherries, grapes, sliced mango, some spinach and artichoke dip, a fresh baguette, some brie, some jalapeno jack cheese, and, of course, a nice bottle of red zinfandel.  You could also get prosecco if you're in an Italian, bubbly kinda mood.  Pack it all in, and head on over to Tybee.  (about $40 for food.  Picnic basket is an investment).
