Orange Fig Deliciousness

Greetings, HWYD Friends!

We'd like to introduce you to a product we'll be using this week in our HWYD recipes: Dalmatia Orange Fig Spread. We are not paid or connected to Dalmatia or any of their affiliate companies, (if there are any), in any way. We just love the stuff.

We intended to take a picture of it full, but we got into first. Sorry.

Our local Kroger carries this fabulous marmalade in the gourmet cheese section. Apparently, Dalmatia makes a whole line of products, including a fig spread sans orange, but we haven't had the chance to try them. That being said, we can't imagine a more versatile version of this marmalade. The hint of orange makes it usable on a wide range of dishes. Of course it's delicious on toast with butter or cream cheese, but it's also great on crackers with Cotswold cheese or heated and drizzled on pork or substituted in Asian orange chicken or duck. And the desserts! Mmmm!

If you don't find it in the cheese section, make sure you check in the international foods and general condiments sections, too. You can order it off the internet or ask your store to carry it, and they will start stocking it. We found it for $6 on the internet. You may be able to find it a little cheaper in person, but the $6 is well worth it.

While researching this blog, we discovered that it was a Gold Medal winner in 2004 in the New York Fancy Food Show. It's on their website. If you visit the site, you'll find their other products, both sweet and savory, as well as recipes. Apparently, even Emeril made a cookie recipe with it on his show. You can find that on the Dalmatia website, too. Who knew?

Find some Dalmatia Orange Fig Spread this week. You'll be using it this weekend!

Happy Cooking!

Andrea and Steve
