|Go to Dr. Bombay's on Monday night and enjoy a 4 course Indian dinner in support of The Learning Tea, and organization that sponsors girls in India to pursue their university education.|
You know? There are some amazing, amazing people in Atlanta. Katrell Christie is one of 'em. She's the multi-talented lady that owns and runs Dr. Bombay's Underwater Tea Party, a tea house in Candler Park. She squeezes that into her schedule next to art restoration, world travel, and a host of other things. Most recently, she travelled to India and was inspired by the children she met there. So much so, that she founded the Learning Tea, a group whose mission is to support girl's education in India. The group has established a "tea house" in Darjeeling in which the girls live and learn.
On Monday go to a dinner at Dr. Bombay's to support the girls. These dinners are their primary source of financial support. 100% of the proceeds go directly to the girls. It's $20 per ticket. Doors open at 6:30. Dinner starts at 7.

Here's what you do MondayFirst: We always start Monday's slow. Breakfast should be something simple. How about some toast and fruit? You know, plums are in season? Red and purple plums, and sourdough from Whole foods. Did you know there are 2000 varieties of plums, 100 in the United states alone? Check out this article at Serious Eats. Use creamery butter and plum jam for the toast. So good. Check out this article on the advent of creamery butter. Very interesting. ($15)

Third: Lunch at Canoe. We love Canoe. Wonderful place to watch Monday float by. Sit on the patio, have a beautiful meal, and watch the lazy Chattahoochee. It doesn't get much more refined. I met Chef Carvel the other day. She's a force of nature. Self taught. Smart as all get out. Beautiful, and so awesomely nice! Try the jumbo lump crab cake, or grilled Atlantic salmon. Oh, and have their iced tea. They bring it with simple syrup and a tiny paddle to stir. Get it? ($20 per person).
