Beef Week at BLT!

Here's what you do Wednesday, July 18, 2012.

The star event is Beef Week at BLT Steak in the downtown W hotel.

This week, BLT is doing a Boucherie (Butcher) Dinner series, where each month they focus on preparations of  different kind of meat.  This month it's beef, and Chef Cyrille Holota is offering a special prix fixe menu and a la carte menus.  We say surrender yourself to Chef Holota and get the prix fixe menu.  You can also get paired wines from sommelier Dorine Buche for the meal.  The series continues through October focusing on fowl, venison, and pork.

BLT stands for Bistro Laurent Tourondel.  They're sort of a mix between a French Bistro and American steakhouse.  They focus heavily on using local and regional vegetables and even have a raw bar.  There's great ambiance there.  Excellent place for a date.

The ambiance at BLT is wonderful.  Perfect lighting, warm textures.  Great place for a date.
BLT does a great job with desert too.  Try the Crepe Souffle with Passion Fruit Sauce.
Here's what you do:

First: Do a late breakfast at 10 at the Four Seasons; Belgian waffles.  Ever had breakfast at the Atlanta Four Seasons?  It's pretty amazing.  The best service around.  People who just want to make sure you're happy.  It's a little pricey, but you won't be sorry.  The waffle comes topped with warm simmered peaches, Georgia pecans, and vanilla whipped cream.  Yum!  Get that and a cup of their flawless coffee and you're good to go.  ($ - $20 per person)

Second: Go check out the Atlanta Botanical Gardens.  There is an exhibit of large outdoor sculpture there now called Independent Visions.  Really fun large installations.  Take a walk through the gardens too.  Take it all in and find some bliss.  ($ - $18.95 General, $12.95 3-12 yrs old, Free under 3).

Third: Lunch at Food Truck Wednesdays at the Stove Works in Inman Park.  Every Wednesday, they line up at Krog Street at the Stove Works (in the parking lot of Rathbun's) to provide gourmet masterpieces to the outdoor masses.  This ain't your grandpa's food truck!  The trucks rotate a lot, so you never know what you'll get, but it's sure to be good.  Plenty of Parking.  Have fun.  ($10 per person).

Fourth:  Nap.  That's right.  You gotta nap, and wednesday afternoon is the best time for it.  Follow the Here's What You Do Perfect Bed rules, and settle in.

Fifth:  Have a drink at the Living Room at W Atlanta Downtown hotel.  This strikingly decorated lounge will get you right into the spirit for dinner.  Relaxed, contemporary, and with an arresting, towering circular bar and 35,000 piece metal mobile that spans and connects the space.  Have a martini from the W cocktail list and get cozy.  ($10 per person)
